Values in Action, work in progress, 2010

On the morning 25th of March 2010 Kennedy Browne boarded the last flight from Shannon airport, Ireland, to Lodz, Poland. After this flight all connections between these two cities were discontinued.

Kennedy Browne were interested in documenting this seemingly banal event, marking the severance of social and economic ties between 2 peripheral European regions. This flight would typically have served Polish workers and their families who would commute to Ireland to work in the Shannon region.

A significant backdrop to this work is the movement of the Dell computers manufacturing plant from Limerick (the city Shannon airport serves) to Lodz with the devastating loss of over 1900 jobs at the Limerick plant.
